Hello, my name is Allen Layton. My background is in accounting, computers, and building materials. After retiring and moving to Georgia a few years ago, I discovered a new passion: creating videos—and now songs—about the fascinating people, places, and stories of central Georgia.

Originally from Delaware, I come from a very different historical environment. That contrast sparked my interest in exploring Georgia’s rich and sometimes overlooked past. As I uncovered unique places and untold stories, I felt compelled to share them with others—and that's how Georgia History Today was born.

In 2024, I held a giveaway for my YouTube and Facebook followers. To my surprise, the winner wasn’t from Georgia—or even America! A young man from a city in Africa won, and when I learned how high the shipping costs were, I offered to create a custom 30-second video commercial for his business instead. That marked the beginning of my first international friendship through this project.

Recently, I’ve been experimenting with AI-generated music and song narration in my history videos, replacing the traditional “talking head” format.
